Neumann is a veteran of the U.S. Army who received an honorable discharge in 1999 and who had worked at Fiamma for some time before he was sacked in April, Demings said.
"My experience tells me that this individual made deliberate thought to do what he did today". She commended the Sheriff's Office for its quick action. The gunman "had a negative relationship with" at least one of the victims. "He was certainly singling out the individuals he shot". Authorities were trying to reach the families of each victim before releasing their names.
The motive remained under investigation. It did not appear he had a concealed weapons permit for the semi-automatic pistol used in the shooting.
Police determined that Neumann had worked at Fiamma Inc., a company that makes awnings for campers and RVs, for a number of years, but was sacked in April.
Neumann apparently was a lone gunman, and Demings said there is no indication that anyone else was involved "in a plot".
Fiamma Inc., at 2427 Forsyth Road northeast of Orlando, is "one of the world's largest manufacturers of RV awnings", according to the company's website.
Adams said her sister is OK and was taken to a nearby fire department training facility. "My boss is dead", Adams said. She was very upset on the telephone, saying only, "My boss is dead".
Officers were dispatched within 45 seconds and arrived two minutes later, the sheriff said.
Searching for a motive, deputies cordoned off a trailer park in Maitland, where Neumann lived alone in a mobile home on a busy road next to a funeral home, a used auto lot and a dog-grooming business.
The attack shows why people need to alert authorities whenever they learn of anything that could lead to violence, Banks said.
Multiple people were killed in a workplace shooting in Orlando, Florida, on Monday morning, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said, adding that the situation had stabilized.
Almost a year ago, a gunman claiming allegiance to the Islamic State militant group killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. It is also one week before the anniversary of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub that left 50 people dead and dozens wounded. In a statement, Gov. Rick Scott said the Orlando community has been challenged like never before in the past year.
"I ask all Floridians to pray for the families impacted by this senseless act of violence".
