Act for America said it specifically wanted to raise awareness of genital mutilation, which it blames on Sharia law.

But the overwhelming majority of Muslims don't want to replace United States law with Islamic law, known as Sharia, and only "radical extremist groups" would call for that, said Liyakat Takim, a professor of Islamic studies at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. We're going to take a few minutes to talk about rallies happening today in dozens of cities across the country called the March Against Sharia.
The group organizing this march and others across the country, ACT for America, say that Sharia law is "incompatible with Western democracy".
The South Bay group opposing Sharia law, organized locally by a man who calls himself "Joe", said its principles are unconstitutional and encourages Muslims to rape women and mutilate girls. In Chicago, about 30 people demonstrated against Islamic law in front of a Trump-branded building, shouting slogans and holding signs that read "Ban Sharia" and "Sharia abuses women".
"Sharia is a barbaric system that the Islamic State is trying to impose in our country".
As part of a nationwide collection of rallies organized by the group ACT for America, around 100 people met for a so-called anti-Sharia law protest.
"A practicing Muslim who believes the word of the Quran to be the word of Allah ... who goes to mosque and prays every Friday, who prays five times a day - this practicing Muslim, who believes in the teachings of the Koran, can not be a loyal citizen of the United States", said Gabriel during a course at the Department of Defense's Joint Forces Staff College in 2007. Majority carried handguns.
The actions in Seattle took on extra significance because the Portland June 10 ACT demonstration was shifted to Seattle in the aftermath of the killing of 2 men who stepped up in defense of a Muslim teen and her friend on the Max train in Portland.

"We in America may not agree on every single issue or lifestyle, but we all agree every single American life is precious and we will defend them", Boykin said.
In St. Paul, the local Council of American-Islamic Relations chapter invited ACT protestors to tour a mosque and have a dinner to promote an interfaith dialogue.
"We don't want to see our nation, and the foundation that was built here, torn apart by adding in sharia law", said Mike Morris, an event organizer. Joined by the Noise Brigade, people kept up a steady stream of chants, whistles, drumming and even truck/train horns which largely drowned out the hateful message.
Another participant says opponents of Islam are mistaking the Islamic penal code as the voice of the religion.
Anti-Islamic law protester Denise Zamora, 39, said she and others in her group were not opposed to all Muslims.
