Kumble stated: "I was informed for the first time yesterday (June 19) by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my "style" and about my continuing as the Head Coach".
While the team left for the Caribbean earlier on Tuesday, Kumble did not accompany the team raising doubts over his continuance as the head coach.
Kumble was a direct entry into the coach selection process while the others who applied for the post were Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput among others. In the final, India suffered a huge 180-run loss to Pakistan. Virat was also against this behavior of Kumble, as he believed that the atmosphere is spoiled and insecurity is created.
Iconic ex-India captain Gavaskar told NDTV: "I was saddened [to hear of Kumble's resignation], because Anil has been a wonderful cricketer for India".
Kumble had resigned from the post of the India's head coach after a fallout with Indian captain Virat Kohli. "Sometimes it happens that you can't get along with someone", the Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman said. "As I said, his point of view is out there and we respect that decision", said Kohli.
The statement from Kumble confirmed the reports about Kohli's alleged spat with Kumble regarding differences of opinion on selection matters.
June 6, 2017: Anil kumble formally re-applies for the post despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) saying he would be a direct entry into the final pool of candidates. "And I think players today consider themselves to be above a lot of things, because of IPL and everything it brings about".
India will play five one-day internationals in the Caribbean, with a Twenty20 worldwide wrapping up the trip on July 9, 2107. Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar, and R Sridhar, will continue to remain the Batting Coach and the Fielding Coach, respectively.
Further, given that the BCCI-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has sided with Kohli on the dismissal of Kumble, Gavaskar feels that the committee should do more for the game.
