Mishra, a former Minister who has been carrying on a campaign against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, levelling graft allegation against him, was seen being dragged out of the house by Aam Aadmi Party members.
ACB says they received a complaint from sacked minister Kapil Mishra, along with some prima facie evidence, which suggested that more than the required amount of medicines was purchased by the government. Kapil Mishra was allegedly beaten up by AAP MLAs inside the assembly during a discussion of Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi dubbed the incident as a case of intimidation and castigated the incident. The BJP MLAs alleged that Mishra had been physically assaulted but the Speaker RN Goel denied the charges. "I can also take action against this", Goel said.
"I wanted to discuss their corruption". I am deeply disturbed with the incident. "It is perhaps for the first time that MLAs have been used to muffle a dissenting voice inside the House", Mishra said.
"I was thrashed, some of them kicked me on the chest".
Mishra later claimed he was roughed up by the MLAs on the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Tiwari further demanded police security for both Mishra and Sharma, adding anyone exposing corruption in the Kejriwal government faced danger.
Speaker Goel said both Mishra and the legislators who manhandled him may face action.
"The incident that happened in the Assembly is such an unfortunate one; it is totally disrespecting the law and order". Whatever they (AAP MLAs) did was wrong.
"I want to tell Arvind Kerjiwal that we are devotees of Mahatma Gandhi but we also know Bhagat Singh".
She said the attack was a crisis for the democratic principles.
Mishra had even approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with "evidence" of Kejriwal's corruption.
