The two biggest music stories this week were U2's Joshua Tree tour playing two sold-out shows at the historic Rose Bowl in Los Angeles and the death of singer Chris Cornell so it's no surprise that the two converged over this past weekend.
Bono introduced the song by calling Cornell a "lion" and a "beautiful, sweet soul" before launching into the 1987 track, which follows a Dublin couple struggling with heroin.
U2's first of two sold-out shows in Los Angeles also saw the band honour the late singer by playing Soundgarden's 1994 hit "Black Hole Sun" before kicking off the concert, prompting concertgoers to launch into an impromptu sing-along. "What a blessing.let's do this again in 2047". "A attractive, sweet soul, Chris Cornell".

As Bono sang, "You got to cry without weeping/Talk without speaking/Scream without raising your voice", the Rose Bowl masses were silent and reverent, swaying as one, their illuminated cell phones held aloft once more.
