Being a GSM/LTE handset, the Sony Xperia XZs does not work on CDMA carriers like Verizon and Sprint, so it can only be used on carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
The July launch in SA means that Sony's rivals will have a two month head-start at the very least, with LG's G6 launching in April, the Galaxy S8 hitting stores today (5 May) and Huawei's P10 set for launch later this month. It was recently spotted on GeekBench benchmark site scoring 1943 and 5824 in the single and multi-core tests, respectively.
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium will cost €745 with O2 in Germany, it will also be available on a range of contracts with the carrier. The Xperia XZ Premium has been reported to clock a GPU speed of Adreno 530.
Sony's latest device stands out thanks to the addition of a 4K HDR-capable screen and a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor (much like United States variants of the Galaxy S8).
Sony also tries to compliment the large 4K display on the the Xperia XZ Premium with a 19-megapixel rear camera with Sony's new Motion Eye camera system (with a faster new memory stacked 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor), allowing the device to shoot super slo-mo videos at 960 frames per second, another first for a smartphone.
Powered by a 2700mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge support, Xperia X Performance runs Android 6.0 OS. The report also suggests 64GB of onboard storage, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU and 4GB of RAM. The Xperia XZ Premium weighs 161 g and measures a dimension of 146 x 72 x 8.1 mm.
