Kirsten Dunst is taking a deep (and trippy) dive into a role unlike anything else in her career.
The Woodshock trailer has arrived, showing an unconventional horror-thriller that - at least at first glance - draws its title from the traditional pharmaceutically-induced psychedelia celebrated during the monumental original 1969 Woodstock concert festival and, well... something shocking.
Woodshock is the upcoming debut feature from Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who both wrote and directed, and are better known as the fashion designers behind the Rodarte brand. The film is based on an original idea from the Mulleavy siblings, one that had reportedly been in development for several years. And frankly, good on Dunst for stepping up to work with first-time female filmmakers; in addition to her many collaborations with Coppola, she also starred in Leslye Headland's debut film Bachelorette.
Starring Rodarte muse Kirsten Dunst, the first teaser offers a sneak-peek at the moody and hauntingly attractive film.
There's no getting around this movie will be very heavy going to sit through, but it does look like an intense personal story and going by the trailer Dunst looks to deliver a very powerful performance. Watch it below. Woodshock will open in US theaters on September 15.
