The Big Ballers took on the Compton Magic on Saturday and got absolutely demolished, losing 109-57 while getting outscored 19-2 to start the game. That's objectively amusing, and emblematic of the Ball family's emphasis on icing over cake.
If that wasn't bad enough, LaVar and Compton player Timmy Allen repotedly had an exchange, with Allen completely neutralizing the youngest Ball brother, LaMelo. "You want to know what I'm going to do when I get out of here?" "So I said some stuff back".
Among the words Allen directed at Ball: "Big Baller, what?"
To that end, their father is failing them miserably.
According to Joseph, Chino Hills won the game 76-68 after eschewing LaVar's preference for double-teaming and trapping the ball-handler and opting instead for the man-to-man defense suggested by Gilling.
But frankly, it seems more likely he's just a belligerent, insecure man. Let's not give him credit for much foresight. You can see some of that in this video. "Nobody's here to see you", and called one a "peon".
LaMelo is expected to be one of three top picks in the National Basketball Association draft.
Ball was seen on the sidelines yelling instructions at his players while wearing one of his "Stay in yo lane" t-shirts. It suited his casual, albeit loud, style.
LaVar repeated the entertainment sentiment later, telling another player, "This ain't nothing but entertainment".
