Bon Jovi added a little extra unannounced star power to this year's graduation ceremony at Fairleigh Dickinson University, showing up to deliver a surprise performance after the school won a nationwide contest.
"Don't take anything personally".
Bon Jovi's appearance was due in part to the MTVU hashtag contest #JBJReunionContest in which students from around the country would tweet their favorite college memories.
Prior to the performance, frontman Jon Bon Jovi addressed the 2017 graduates, saying, "Choose your words wisely - not only the ones you'll say to others, but also the ones you say to yourself..." "Enjoy the book. You're the one writing it".
Congrats FDU Grads We had a blast.
The band performed an acoustic version of their song "Reunion", from the group's most recent album This House Is Not For Sale.
Bon Jovi gave some lucky college students the surprise of a lifetime!
Bon Jovi had to scrap two shows at nearby Madison Square Garden in NY last month (Apr17) in order to recover from bronchitis.
"I would have preferred Justin Bieber", shrugged another student.
In an interview inside the Giants locker room before the ceremony, Jon Bon Jovi told The Associated Press he hopes the graduates remain flexible about their plans. "It's a great journey".
