"Our Oscars team this year delivered a show that hit every high note", Dawn Hudson, academy's chief executive, said in a statement, New York Times reports.
The Academy has announced that talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the awards show in 2018.
Also on-board for the 90th Academy Awards are producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd. Now that the comedian is officially coming back, there's little doubt that he'll poke fun at the incident at next year's ceremony.
Jokingly taking the blame for the biggest snafu in the history of the Oscars hasn't hurt Jimmy Kimmel one bit. When the announcement that he would host again was made official, Kimmel claimed it's the "highlight of his career".
The snafu marked the most embarrassing mistake in Oscars history, with the musical "La La Land" briefly declared the best picture victor before organizers realized the error.
The 90th Oscar will take place on March 4, 2018 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be broadcasted live on the ABC television network.
"If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show", Kimmel joked. "Mike and Jennifer produced a attractive show that was visually stunning".
And he mentioned the mix up - which saw "La La Land" read out as the victor instead of "Moonlight" after presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed the wrong envelope - when he took to Twitter to confirm the news.
De Luca and Todd said jointly in the statement that they were eager to return.
