Although this is considered the first suicide attack linked to Isis, the group had previously claimed responsibility for an explosion that targeted a military vehicle belonging to the African Union (AU) in the outskirts of the capital Mogadishu last April.

Witnesses said the vehicle was parked outside the cafe close to the entrance of Mogadishu seaport, a busy, central part of the city where crowds commonly gather to trade and socialise.

"The police vehicle ran over an IED and we have casualties".

Authorities said Abedi detonated a suicide bomb near one of the entrances to the Manchester Arena on Monday, just after an Ariana Grande concert wrapped up. "From past incidences, it is easy to see that even this one is the work of our enemy, al-Shabaab. They plant these IEDs to target our security people". He said three other officers have been unhurt. "We killed five of his bodyguards and destroyed one auto".

Now there are four people in line for the throne: Akihito's two sons who are in their 50s, his brother who is in his 80s and his 10-year-old grandson, The Telegraph reported.

The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility for the carnage, which was condemned by world leaders including US President Donald Trump, who branded people carrying out atrocities "evil losers".

In their heyday in 2011, Somali pirates launched 237 attacks off the coast of Somalia and held hundreds of hostages, the Bureau said.

Last week, al-Shabab militants shot and killed a local official at his home in a small town 20 kilometers from Mandera town.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, after a group of pirates captured the Iranian vessel "in order to hijack (other) ships", Ali Shire, the mayor of Haabo, in the northern semi-autonomous region of Puntland, was quoted by Reuters as saying.
