No details about the man, or how he died, have been released.

The local police are investigating the death, according to the Algarve Daily News.

Mr Dargan, from Portlaoise, travelled to Portugal on Friday with his friends.

It is believed that he had been staying at the Alto do Moinho apartments in Albufeira.

An autopsy due to take place in nearby Faro is expected to reveal what the tourist consumed in the hours leading up to his death.

AN IRISHMAN has been found dead in his holiday apartment in Portugal.

Lee Dargan who set up the fundraiser has thanked those who have supported them in their grief.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it is providing consular assistance to the family.

A GoFundMe account "Bring Daryl Home" has been opened to raise €15,000 to help bring his remains home.

The page had raised more than €4,000 by Tuesday evening.
