While the identity of the students are still shrouded in secrecy, that of the junior secondary school principal was simply revealed as Mr. Bolaji Oyesola and his counterpart at the senior level as Mr. Akinrinmade.

It was learnt that four of the pupils were later released at the waterside by the assailants after profiling their parents' details while the remaining six pupils, identified as Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf, were taken away.

In a statement on Thursday, the police said Fatai Owoseni, the Police Commissioner, had raised a team to rescue the students and apprehend the suspects.

Owoseni, who was at the school very early in the morning, appealed for calmness from parents and guardian of the kidnapped school children to enable security agencies focus on rescue operations.

He stressed that useful information from members of the public would be invaluable to the team's efforts.
