Arsenal salvaged some silverware from a traumatic season as they beat Premier League champion Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday thanks to Aaron Ramsey's late victor.
"I am very proud because you see what fight you have to win one (FA Cup)", Wenger said on BBC One.
The first coach to win the FA Cup seven times.
"I am convinced we were hurt by the uncertainty about my future with the players", Wenger said.
Alexis Sanchez's controversial opener had given Arsenal the early initiative and Arsene Wenger's side could have been further ahead as they dominated the first-half chances.
Despite having Victor Moses sent off after he received a second yellow card for diving, Chelsea levelled through Diego Costa in the 76th minute, only for Aaron Ramsey to head in Arsenal's winner just three minutes later.
"We showed strength, unity and played spectacular football". He'll get a contract extension and a few more years to get Arsenal another Premier League title.
The pulsating final saw Wenger's team match up with the formation which Conte has set the standard with this season, playing three defenders at the back despite a defensive injury crisis leaving Arsenal with only Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding as the two recognised senior centre backs alongside Nacho Monreal.
"It's been an up and down season", Ramsey said, "but to finish it with an FA Cup has to be a successful season".
"I don't think I can answer that question", Wenger said, "at the moment".
Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his contribution and that of the team in general in the wake of what is a famous FA Cup win...
They had started their FA Cup final against Premier League champions Chelsea as clear underdogs, after a disappointing season, finishing fifth and missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time in Wenger's almost 21 years in charge. It is between him and me.
"If you have followed our last two months, we have had outstanding performances".
"Arsenal started very well with great determination".
For now, Arsenal fans will smile and celebrate: There's no denying that in the history of the FA Cup, Wenger is the greatest manager, and Arsenal is the greatest club.
"The way we function gets the best out of the individual qualities of the players". "I don't feel that winning the Cup will necessarily change anything, it would be a bit ridiculous were 20 years of service to be decided by the result of one game, and neither should the future of the club depend on a single game".
"But when a game starts you support your team".
