Police in Dallas, Texas are conducting a manhunt for a suspect who opened fire on paramedics, injuring multiple people.
"All of these officers' actions are more than commendable - they should be considered heroic", Blankenbaker said. He shot and murdered the person inside before he used the gun against himself, ending his brief shooting spree.
Brown was found inside his home by a police robot dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After isolating the residential area of east downtown, police searched the houses and found the gunman dead along with another dead body.

Investigators believe Brown shot his roommate to death and then went outside where he shot a neighbor before shooting a paramedic who responded to the shooting.
They believe he is still in the area where the shooting happened.
Salazar said she was headed to the area to visit her mother when she heard about the shooting on the radio. "Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene where a civilian had been shot and immediately began treatment".
Dallas police told NBC 5's Ashleigh Barry a woman was called for help after coming home to find her partner on the floor of their home holding a weapon. Officials believe the suspect is still in the vicinity. A police sergeant arriving at the scene ran to the severely injured paramedic, pulled him out, and into his squad auto and drove him to Baylor University Medical Center, he said.
Authorities said the shooting occurred near the Dolphin Road Fire Training Academy in Dallas.
But some fire and EMS officials across the country worry that wearing body armor might cause medics to take unnecessary risks going into danger areas instead of waiting for police to arrive.
For several hours Monday police described the scene as "active and very risky".
A Dallas firefighter has been shot and an active shooter "pinned down" officers by gunfire in East Dallas, according to the Dallas Police Association.
Eric Jackson, Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas FBI, said Tuesday the bureau had an active, open investigation into Brown prior to the shooting and that they were reviewing their case file.
UPDATE 2:20p.m.: Dallas Fire and Rescue Tweeted their paramedic is still in critical condition.
An ambulance transported the wounded firefighter/paramedic to Baylor Medical Center Dallas where he is now reported to be in surgery.
Paramedics responding to a suicide call at about 11:30 a.m. discovered the neighbor lying in the street and stopped to provide medical care.
