Pacy Ghanaian forward David Accam has made history with his club side Chicago Fire in the MLS after becoming the first player in their history to score in five consecutive matches.
Nikolic also missed a stoppage-time penalty but Bastian Schweinsteiger's Chicago are still enjoying their best winning run since September 2012.
MLS top scorer Nemanja Nikolic opened the scoring for Chicago Fire in the 3rd minute with a close finish.
In typical fashion Accam latched unto a diagonal pass from Johan Kappelhof before shaking off his marker and firing hard and low to restore Fire's lead in the 9th minute against Dallas FC.
The Fire are second in the Eastern Conference - two points adrift of Toronto FC - while Dallas are third in the west. He controlled a long ball at the corner of the 18-yard box, took four little touches and sent it under a diving Chris Seitz.
Dallas, however, hit back within three minutes thanks to Roland Lamah as Cristian Colman brought up the 1,000th assist in the club's history.
Chicago has the weekend off, while FC Dallas hosts intrastate rivals Houston Dynamo on Sunday.
