About 60 persons have been arrested till now for their alleged involvement in the incidents of violence.

One person was killed and several others injured on Tuesday evening after a truck carrying Dalit (low caste) community members was attacked reportedly by Thakurs (belonging to upper caste) in Saharanpur district, about 711 km northwest of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
Akbar, a 50-year-old fruit-seller, said Dalits were attacked by upper caste Hindus with spears, sticks and handguns as they were returning to their homes after attending Mayawati's rally.
"We are trying to provide piped water supply but it may take some time...but in areas which have handpumps, people should consume boiled water", the chief minister said, adding that the disease can be checked through clean potable water, effective cleanliness programmes and through such immunisation schemes.
Arvind Kumar told IANS the situation was under control but as a precautionay matter the deployment of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) platoons will remain in place till further orders.
No fresh violence was reported as of May 24 afternoon.
Clashes between the two communities earlier this month led to the death of another Dalit.
Violence first broke out in Saharanpur about 40 days ago following a procession to mark Ambedkar Jayanti.
On May 21, thousands of protesting Dalits converged on the streets of New Delhi, defying a police ban on the rally.
A video had also surfaced on YouTube where a man is seen claiming he and others like him were asked to clean up using soaps and shampoos before the CM's visit.
