We heard that Aquaman would begin filming in Australia in May, and they’ve wasted little time.
Directed by James Wan, the film stars Jason Momoa, who appeared as the character in Justice League this past fall.
The words of acclaimed director James Wan on his Twitter earlier today as production begins on Aquaman, the latest big-screen adaptation of one of DC’s heroes, with this one due to be released next Christmas.
Warner Bros. has released the official logo for its Aquaman solo film to celebrate the start of production.
Aquaman’s first appearance was in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941) and was created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.
Warner Bros. specifically notes that Aquaman will primarily be filmed on Queensland, Australia’s Gold Coast and at the nearby Village Roadshow Studios. Filming will also take place in Newfoundland, Sicily and Tunisia. Zack and Deborah Snyder from Justice League are executive producers for the standalone DC project long with Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and others.
“Aquaman” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2018. An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas.
