WR Floyd agrees to sign with hometown Vikings

That house arrest period would run through the Vikings’ offseason program, although Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Floyd may be able to serve the remainder of the sentence in Minnesota.

But Floyd is just 27 and we are only five years removed from him being a first-round pick and four from him having a 1,000-yard season. Floyd finished the year with the New England Patriots.

According to NFL.com, Floyd has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

“Coach Zimmer and I are confident Michael Floyd has learned and grown from his past decisions”. Can Laquon Treadwell step up and improve upon his abysmal one-catch rookie campaign?

The Minnesota Vikings are bolstering their receiving corps.

One of the most disappointing players for the Arizona Cardinals of the Bruce Arians era was Michael Floyd.

“I am very excited to come home and play for the Minnesota Vikings. Time to go to work”.

Floyd was claimed off waivers by the Patriots after he was released from the Cardinals in December for his DUI arrest. He was a highly touted recruit that had an excellent career at Notre Dame, which led to him being drafted by the Cardinals with the 13th overall pick in 2012. The following year, he broke out, racking up 65 receptions, 1,041 yards and five scores. Floyd was found passed out at the wheel, at an intersection, and later found to have a.217 blood alcohol level. Floyd saw action in only the first New England playoff game, but was inactive for the AFC Championship and Super Bowl.

Floyd pleaded guilty on February 17 to a second offence, extreme drunken driving in Scottsdale, Arizona. But Floyd has been a player in decline the past few seasons and has an “extreme DUI” conviction on his record that will require home confinement for a long stretch this year. That means he can’t leave Arizona until June 17, which is after minicamp is over for the Vikings.

But he faces certain National Football League suspension after his embarrassing arrest in December, when police rolled up on Floyd and videotaped him passed out at the wheel of his vehicle at a Scottsdale, Ariz., traffic light with a blood-alcohol level of.217.
