USA equities traded on a mixed note for the session, with the Dow Industrials trying to snap an eight day losing streak. Stocks also reacted to a raft of central bank speakers, including San Francisco Fed President John Williams, who said his colleagues should not "rule out more than three increases total for this year", as we're as close "as we've ever been" to hitting inflation and employment goals.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged lower, falling for the ninth session out of the past 10.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 741,957 call contracts traded on Tuesday, compared to 444,008 put contracts.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 30.55 points, or 0.15 percent, to 20,670.95, the S&P 500 gained 2.72 points, or 0.12 percent, to 2,361.29 and the Nasdaq Composite added 21.12 points, or 0.36 percent, to 5,896.26.
Good economic data also buoyed markets to give the Dow a rise of 150.52 points or 0.73%, ending at 20.701.50.
The S&P 500 Index (SPX - 2,361.13) ticked 2.6 points, or 0.1%, higher. The reversal later in the day pushed implied volatility sharply lower.
In corporate news, General Motors rose 2.9 percent after activist investor David Einhorn's Greenlight Capital urged the carmaker to split its stock into two classes.
Trump signed the "Energy Independence" executive order rolling back several climate change initiatives put in place by the Obama administration. This morning, stocks are reacting to news out of the United Kingdom, where Brexit negotiations have officially begun after Article 50 was triggered, and Prime Minister Theresa May is now addressing Parliament.
